What is the cost?

This is payable in advance.

What happens if I fail the test?
We offer another training period, usually one or two days, then you undertake another test.

STOP PRESS: April 2006
The plans to introduce a new qualification for professional bus, coach & lorry drivers - the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) - have been given the Government go-ahead. In the future, just holding a driving licence will not be sufficient.
The new qualification will be introduced in 2008 for bus & coach drivers and in 2009 for lorry drivers. The DSA will offer new entrants to professional driving the opportunity to acquire the Driver CPC at the same time as they obtain their vocational driving licence. Existing drivers WILL NOT have to pass the initial qualification, but WILL be subject to the periodic training requirement.
Professional drivers will have to keep their certificate valid by completing a total of 35 hours periodic training every five years. There will be no additional test to take.

Trailer Towing Instruction. B + E Licence Category:

It is hoped that, as from later this year (2006), instruction will be introduced to enable drivers to comply with the regulations affecting this licence category which refers to the towing of trailers, horse boxes, caravans etc over over specified weight. It is worth noting that you should check your licence entitlement if you have passed your test since 1st January 1997 as you may well be driving without a licence to cover those groups of vehicle.

Fleet Driver Training:

Are instructors are registered Fleet Driver Trainers and this facility is offered to any company wishing to take advantage of lower insurance rates, lower fuel costs and less 'down time' due to crashes/collisions and mechanical failure.

Motability:
Mobility is an essential 'quality of life' especially to those people with a disability. It can mean going out to the shops, access to education, visiting friends and relations or simply a change of scenery.
We are able to help you achieve these objectives by offering driving tuition using either manual or automatic cars to those with less severe forms of disability. Our tuition cars have power steering and ABS braking systems. Minor adaptations such as steering assistors are fitted as standard - please contact us to discuss your specific requirements. If you have your own adapted vehicle we can teach you to drive in that.
Our instructors have been trained at Queen Elizabeth's Foundation Mobility Centre to understand and appreciate the needs of people with disabilities.
Maybe you have a hearing impairment. Do not let this preclude you from driving as there is no reason why you cannot learn to drive either a manual or automatic car. Whilst any driving instructor can teach the deaf or partially deaf, we have instructors who have been specially trained and have experience in teaching pupils with this disability.
